Tides keeps your games private. It doesn’t collect, sell or share any of your data.
Your games, stars, streaks and settings are stored on your device. Tides has no accounts, ads or analytics, and the developer can’t see your data.
If you use iCloud Backup, your Tides data is included in your device’s backup, like any other app’s.
If you’re signed in to iCloud, Tides syncs your games, stars and streaks through your private iCloud database, so they’re the same on your iPhone and iPad. Apple stores this data under its own privacy policy, and the developer can’t see it. Your settings stay on each device.
To stop syncing, turn off Tides in your iCloud settings. Your progress stays on your device.
If you’re signed in to Game Center, Tides sends your scores and achievements to Apple’s Game Center, so they appear on leaderboards under your Game Center name. Apple handles this data under its own privacy policy. If you’re not signed in, nothing is sent. To stop, sign out of Game Center in the Settings app.
If you leave a tip, Apple handles the payment through the App Store under its own privacy policy. Tides never sees your payment details. It only remembers on your device that a tip went through, so it doesn’t ask you again.
Tides downloads each day’s puzzle from a public file hosted on GitHub Pages. The download doesn’t include any personal information. Like any website, GitHub may log basic connection details, such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
If you turn on the daily reminder, Tides asks for permission to send notifications first. Reminders are scheduled on your device, and nothing is sent to a server.
If you add the Tides widget, it reads today’s puzzle and your progress from your device to show the board and a hint letter. It doesn’t send your data anywhere.
If you email support, the message is sent from your own email account. It includes the app version, iOS version and device model, and a problem report also includes the puzzle number and mode, all of which you can see before you send it. Your email is used only to answer you.
If this policy changes, the new version will appear in the app and on the Tides website, with a new date. If a future version adds advertising, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
